David James Elliott

David James Elliott is a Canadian-born actor who was born David William Smith in Milton, Ontario, Canada. He is the second of three sons of Arnold Smith, a heating and plumbing wholesaler-contractor, and his wife, Pat, an office manager.  During his teenage years he was part of a band, quitting Milton District High School in his final year to pursue his dream of becoming a rock star. At 19 however he realized this wouldn't happen and returned to finish high school.

After graduating from high school, he attended Ryerson University in Toronto, auditioned for the Stratford Shakespearean Festival in Ontario and was accepted as a member of its Young Company.

Subsequently moving to Los Angeles he took the stage name of David James Elliott having found there was already an actor named David Smith. He appeared in the film Police Academy 3: Back in Training in 1986, and subsequently in the television series Street Legal, Knots Landing as Bill Nolan, and in 1993's The Untouchables as Agent Paul Robbins. The following year David landed a recurring role on the hit series Melrose Place, playing "Terry Parsons", and a guest appearance in an episode of Seinfeld as an anti-abortion furniture mover.

In 1995, he landed the role he would hold for ten years, the role of Naval Aviator-turned JAG lawyer Commander Harmon Rabb Jr. in the NBC/CBS television drama JAG.  In 1996, David starred in the made-for-cable movie Holiday Affair with Cynthia Gibb. This is a remake of the 1949 classic Holiday Affair which starred Robert Mitchum and Janet Leigh.

In 2005, David starred in a Canadian television movieThe Man Who Lost Himself, which was based on the true story of Terry Evanshen, a Canadian football player who was in a car accident and lost his memory due to severe head injuries.  In October 2006, he joined the cast of legal drama Close to Home as Chief Deputy Prosecutor James Conlon.  And in 2009 he starred in Sci Fi Channel's four hour miniseries, Knights of Bloodsteel.

David has recently replaced Neal McDonough as the male lead in the upcoming TV show Scoundrels.

David married Canadian-born actress Nanci Chambers in 1992. She also appeared in JAG as the ambitious "Lt. Loren Singer". They have a daughter, Stephanie and a son, Wyatt. He had another wedding ceremony with his wife Nanci on June 26, 1999, in Santa Barbara, California. This was to compensate for their original marriage in City Hall in 1992, when they didn't have much money. Their daughter Stephanie was the flower-girl.

An avid runner, David completed the Boston Marathon in 2004.

David and Nanci both became U.S. citizens.

I didn't find anything to indicate that David has a personal relationship with Jesus Christ; that is why he is our chosen prayee for this week!  Please pray that the Lord will draw David to His Son, Jesus Christ and show David that He is the only way, the truth and the life.
