Dear HPN Pray-er,
It’s the end of summer and the weather has been so beautiful in Hollywood. We’re excited about praying for the people, projects and issues in the world’s most influential mission field. We are also praising God for who He is and for all that He has done for us, with us and through us. Let’s have this month be a month of PRAISE and WORSHIP.

• Pray for the executives at MGM Studios, who are facing possible bankruptcy by September 15th. MGM is one of the first studios in our industry and has taken a hit through these difficult economic times. The leadership needs to make wise choices, be unified in their decisions and we ask that God to lead them into the best decision for all of the employees and the audiences impacted by them throughout the world. • Let’s pray for our kids and the children across America to have wisdom and discernment in responding to the media. They have all watched many films, TV shows and listed to a lot of music this summer and we want to pray that they will understand the power of entertainment, what is good to watch and what should not be consumed. We also want them to be praying for their favorite stars. If you know a young person who is willing pray for someone they love to watch, would you have them email us so that we can put the star’s name on our KIDS or TEEN PRAYER CALENDARS (http://www.hollywoodprayernetwork.org/kids-prayer-calendar). Email info@hpnemail.org. We want to hear from all you young people!• Pray for George Clooney and his spiritual journey. Regarding his belief in God George once commented, “I don't believe in Heaven and Hell. I don't know if I believe in God. All I know is that as an individual, I won't allow this life -- the only thing I know to exist – to be wasted." Let’s ask the Lord to show George how much He loves him, so that George will know how real and powerful He is.
• Let's pray for Sci-fi legend Ray Bradbury, who turns 90 this year. He is a very spiritual man who writes about faith, God and love, but believes that Jesus was merely a great man and prophet. • We must pray for Fantasia, the incredible young singer who won AMERICAN IDOL three years ago. Just last week Fantasia attempted suicide. She went from breaking the music records with her hit single and CD two years ago, to having her home go into forclosure and being overwhelmed with depression. As we pray for the Lord to give Fantasia a renewed hope in Him, may we remember that success, fame, and money are often a curse, more than a blessing. Man is not wired to handle the false power that the world gives some people and that’s when we need Him desperately!
• Please pray for singer Katy Perry. She comes from a Christian home and just had an article written about her entitled, "Sex, God and Katy Perry: The New Issue of Rolling Stone." The pictures are controversial, but we believe the Lord will draw her back soon right into the palm of His hand!
UPDATES:
• Keep praying for the unemployed in Hollywood. There are so many people who can't pay their rent or mortgage because they don't have a job and we want to ask that the Lord turn that into good, both to bring the Christians closer to Him and to draw the people of no faith to Him! And may the Christians reach out to our friends who aren't working and minister to them.
• We got a great response from many of you who are praying the Eight Specific Ways to Pray for people in the film industry, as listed in last month's email. As you see films through August, please keep praying these prayers. • Let’s pray for our new HPN Local Chapter Director, Zach Baliva, who is opening a chapter soon in Rome. Zach and Naomi are going to be missionaries to creative artists in Rome and will be our local contact there to build prayer and a Christian, loving, serving community. (Fact: Less than 11% of all Romans attend mass with 80% of those being above the age of 55. 27% have ever read scripture outside of church. In fact, Pope Benedict said in June of this year, "the process of secularization has produced a serious crisis" in Rome.) • Pray for HPN member Davy Liu, who has devoted the last 10 years of his life to pursue an animation book and film that will use his animation experience to fulfill the desire of his heart. Davy and his wife, Joan have just completed a major speaking/ministry tour in Asia. Please pray for favor, grace, wisdom, protection & strength over them as they continue to move forward in faith.
• Let’s pray for all of the Christians in Hollywood to get connected into our Christian community. We keep meeting people who have been here for years and thought they were the only Christians around. We have an awesome community of believers here now over 6,000 and growing daily, and we don’t want anyone going at their work and ministry alone. Hollywood Connect has just launched a new website.
