PRAISES:
- Congratulations
to the WELL DONE AWARDS that was a huge success on June 1st at the
Grove of Anaheim. They lifted up Chris Sligh of American Idol,
Nick Vujicic of Life Without Limbs, among other Christians doing good
work in the media. Thank you Leesa and Denny Bellisi for your
wonderful evening.
- The GLOBE printed a follow-up article to Karen's prayer for Patrick Swayze in the May issue which started: "After GLOBE asked readers to say a prayer for Patrick Swayze, we were swamped with a flood of e-mails and letters offering hope, encouragement and inspiration to the cancer-stricken star. Bighearted fans from all over America report they've been saying GLOBE's special blessing, dedicated to the beloved Dirty Dancing Star, in hopes that the power of prayer will help him beat the deadly pancreatic cancer......" Praise God that He is moving people to pray, even through the tabloids.
UPDATES:
- Thanks
for all your prayers for Steven Curtis Chapman and his family as they
mourn the loss of Steven's youngest daughter, 5 year old Maria. The
name of the Lord was exalted in ways that could never be retold.
Everyone involved was in awe at His grace, compassion and mercy.
Maria's life, although short, has already moved mightily in people's
lives to bring Him glory. Please pray for Maria's older brother
Will Franklin Chapman. He is having the hardest time and struggling
with the guilt of the accident. Will pulled the car into the driveway
and he decided to back the car up onto the grass just as Maria ran
out behind the car to welcome him home. There was no way for him to
know that Maria was behind that car. The Lord was ready to take
Maria home. He knew the number of her days. Will stood with Maria's
favorite pink blanket draped over his shoulders both days of the
memorial. Keep praying for the Lord to work miracles with, through
and in the lives of all of the Chapmans. They are worn out, sad and
yet rejoicing in the Lord.
REQUESTS:
- Universal
Studios had a huge fire on the backlot on June 3rd, burning down New
York Street and a video vault. The studio tour is back up and
running, but pray for the employees who accidentally caused it and
the executives responding to it. May this scare bring them to Jesus
for answers.
- The TV networks are all scrambling to find a new strategy that could redefine the process of choosing new TV shows each year. Please pray for hearts of the decision-makers as they choose which pilots will be considered for the new shows this Fall.
- Tatum O'Neil was arrested in New York City for allegedly buying cocaine near her home. She was seen making a purchase and was arrested and charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance; a misdemeanor. Please pray for her, that she may find Jesus during this time.
- With the release of INDIANA JONES, let's pray for George Lucas, the Academy Award-winning American film writer/producer/screenwriter. He is also chairman of Lucasfilm, an independent studio he created upon the financial success of American Graffiti and Star Wars -- two of his earliest film successes. George was born in Modesto, California, to parents who sold retail office supplies in a stationery store they owned. They also owned a walnut ranch. He was raised in a strongly Methodist family. After inserting religious themes into Star Wars he would eventually come to identify strongly with the Eastern religious philosophies he studied and incorporated into his movies, which were a major inspiration for "the Force." Lucas eventually came to state that his religion was "Buddhist Methodist." May we lift him up and ask the Lord to touch his heart and life.
- Please pray for Jason Beghe. This star of One Missed Call and G.I. Jane was, until recently, a high-ranking member in the church of scientology. He is now out and speaking against this cult. Pray that he would speak boldly, pray for his physical safety, and pray that he would move into the knowledge of Jesus as his Lord and Savior. Thank you.
- Pray
with HPN as we plan to fulfill a wild dream of having weekly
helicopter rides over Hollywood, with prayer warriors who want to
pray over the land. We got the idea from a pastor in Colorado who
sponsors weekly helicopter prayer rides over Colorado Springs. When
reading an article about Pastor Melton we immediately decided that we
need to do that over the 30 Mile Zone - Hollywood! And it's starting
to happen. We now have a Christian helicopter pilot who is also a
screenwriter! Now we just need a helicopter or the funds to rent a
helicopter. Will you join us in praying for the Lord's perfect
timing to get the funds and resources we need to sponsor weekly
helicopter rides for strategic prayer warriors whose vision is to see
God transform the world through praying for Hollywood - or over
Hollywood!
- The Tony Awards were on Sunday, June 15th - Father's Day held live at Radio City Music Hall in NYC, hosted by Whoopi Goldberg. Please pray for all of the people involved and remember that this could have been the hardest day of their year - if they lose, they feel unloved and untalented. If they win, they wonder if this is all there is...

- "I've been praying about whether to take the California Bar this July and, if the Lord does want me to do that (on top of temping, looking for full time work and trying to start my own company) that He could clearly let me know and that if He would also provide the financial and temporal resources to do so. I've asked the Lord to let me know if He wants me to have a go at the Bar, since I have missed many job opportunities only because I'm not yet licensed here (although I'm licensed in NY). And frankly I just don't know my whole professional direction at this point. After moving to LA a few years ago, God has really blessed me but it's been quite a struggle in the last year and I don't know where to focus my efforts. I could really use hearing from Abba Daddy right now..." Karen
- Let's lift up our friend Ted in prayer. He's an actor and a faithful member of our community. "I've had 6 procedures on my heart beginning on Dec 9, 07 and it isn't over yet. My blood pressure has been fluctuating since my ablation on May 7 from 110/60 to 190/90, which is very dangerous, and they're not sure why. They keep increasing my meds so, much of the time I don't know whether I'm coming or going. Obviously, ultimately I KNOW where I'm going. I've recently joined the New Mercury Theatre and am performing with them and am in hopes that I can continue. Love and blessings." Ted Hollis

through June 30, 2008 for the 5th Annual Evening of Arts &
Entertainment. They are currently accepting submissions for artists
who are Christians to show their art (visual and performing arts as
well as film and media) to audiences in Los Angeles in the show on
October 3rd.
