  • "Always respond to every impulse to pray. The impulse to pray may come when you are reading or when you are battling with a text. I would make an absolute law of this always obey such an impulse."

Prayer offered by HPN chapter member at the Minnesota State Capitol on the National Day of Prayer

I praise You Lord in the assembly of Your Saints! We come humbly before Your throne of grace through the shed Blood of Your Son, Jesus Christ. Not to us, O Lord, not to us, but to Your Name be the Glory, because of Your love and faithfulness. Moses and Aaron were among Your priests, Samuel was among those who called on Your Name; they called on You Lord, and You ANSWERED them. (Ps. 99) So hear our prayers, O Lord, listen to our cries for help; remember Your words to Your servants for You have given us hope. (Ps. 119) You have raised up for Your people a horn of strength: the praise of all Your saints and of Israel, the people close to Your heart. Hear our voice as we call to You. May our prayers be set before You like incense. (Ps.141) As we plow and break up the earth, may the bones of the wicked be scattered at the mouth of the grave. (Ps. 141)

Who are we, O Sovereign Lord, and what are our families that You have brought us this far? And as if this were not enough in Your sight, O Lord. What more can we say? Our hearts are covered in sackcloth and ashes. For You know your servants O Lord. For the sake of Your Word and according to Your will, You have done great things and made them known to Your servants. Praise be to God alone Who has not rejected our prayers or withheld His love from us!

Father, we all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. We repent for not loving You with our whole heart and for not loving our neighbor as ourself. We repent for not walking in the fullness of Your Spirit and for walking more so in the flesh. Forgive us, heavenly Father for cowering under peer pressure and negative media. Forgive us for acting out as the righteous older brother to your prodigal sons and daughters. We have shunned them and turned our back on them. We have criticized and complained of their behavior. Father it is Your desire that no one should perish but that everyone should come to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ. You loved the world so much that You gave Your only Son, that whoever believes in Him, would not perish but have eternal life. (John 3) Father, YOU love the people of Hollywood and You love the people in the media. Creative people are compassionate and sensitive to the feelings of people. We need all of the gifts operating in the world today and we ask You, in Your mercy, to help us walk in love towards people who Your church may be frustrated with for it is the love of God that leads man to repentance and it is love that covers a multitude of sins.

Father forgive our carnal frustration with many journalists, writers, producers, directors, actors and distributors of media. Holy Spirit, help us and all professing Christians in the entertainment industry & media to yield our hearts to You, first and foremost, as then we will truly serve and obey you. (Josh. 24:24). Father, help us to be on our guard as Your Body as we see the beginning of the worldʼs birth pangs described in Matthew 24. It seems that media and technological advances could be used by You in order for the gospel to be preached as a testimony in all nations. Yet Your ways our higher than our ways and Your thoughts are higher than our thoughts. Help us to work with You and Your ways. Give us a supernatural spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of You. We believe that You have given us, Your servants and stewards a responsibility for this nation to be a righteous, big brother to the world. Thank You for giving us a choice, a free will, and the Holy Spirit to lead us, teach us and guide us through to the end of this dispensation of time. Thank You for making a distinction between Your children and of those in the world, just as You did in the days of Noah and in the days of Moses and on the day of Pentecost.

And so I boldly and humbly ask You Father for the technological advances in media to be given over to Your children - to people who will not slander Your name. For the earth is the Lord’s and EVERYTHING in it, the world, and all who live in it (Ps. 24). Have mercy on us Father. Father resist the proud and give grace to the humble. (1 Pet. 5). Judge righteously your children and the media giants made only of clay. Let the Righteous Man smite and correct us - it is a kindness. (Ps. 141)

Help us Lord, to be alert and keep watch. Send us, Your children into the highways and byways to compel people to come to You. Father give us cinemas and stadiums to gather the people, Your inheritance, to eat and drink of You, to hear the Gospel of Jesus Christ. May we be living in a way that pleases God, sanctified and holy as You are Holy.

May we be alert and self-controlled with the help of Your Holy Spirit, putting on faith and love as a breastplate, and the hope of salvation as a helmet.

We trust Your word to us, Father, that You will never leave us nor forsake us. Help us, your children, to be strong and courageous. Help us to help our brother, Israel inherit all of the land that You have promised them in Your covenant to our forefathers. Help us to focus in these last days on Your will and on the big picture for Your inheritance and for the peace of Jerusalem. Father, we ask for laborers to be sent into the harvest and for more watchers and prayers at every gate and at every door. We command angels, Your ministering spirits, to aid and assist every child of God and every servant of Yours as we resist the enemy. We are not ignorant of the enemyʼs devices and we rebuke the devourer for Your name sake. Thank You for giving us authority over the enemy and may every believer use the authority given them in the Name of Jesus Christ. We take authority now over every lying, seducing and deceiving spirit in media and command its mouth to be silenced that You may be glorified. May Your people praise You, O God, may all the people praise You...then the land will yield its harvest and God, our God, will bless us and all the ends of the earth will fear YOU. (Ps. 67).

And now, Lord God, keep forever the promise You have made concerning Your servants and their house. Do as You promised so that Your Name will be Great forever. Then men will say, the Lord Almighty is God over Israel and over His Body. And the house of Your Son, Jesus the Christ, will be established before You. And now O Lord, be pleased to bless Israel and to bless Your Body, the church of the Lord Jesus Christ. (2 Sam. 7:18 - 29 & 1 Chron. 17:16). You, O Lord, secure justice for the poor and uphold the cause of the needy. (Ps. 140) Defend the cause of the weak and fatherless; maintain the rights of the poor and oppressed; deliver them from the hand of the wicked. (Ps. 82) Thank You that our sinful nature will never disqualify us from the promises of God. Your procession has come into view, O God, the procession of our God and King into the sanctuary. Praise the Lord for the Lord will not reject His people; He will never forsake His inheritance! (Ps. 68 & 94)

It is in the Name of Your Son, Jesus Christ, that I humbly pray. Amen!
