PRAISES:

• PRAISE to God for Joe Eszterhas, a long time Hollywood screenwriter, known for his dark, edgy thrillers such as "Basic Instinct" and "Jagged Edge," for has became a Christian. He tells about his spiritual conversion and his newfound devotion to God and family in his upcoming book "Crossbearer: A Memoir of Faith." Let's pray for Joe as he becomes public with his faith, and ask the Lord to protect him, give him wisdom and a strong foundation as he shocks his peers in Hollywood.

UPDATES:

• HPN "I to I" prayer partnerships are growing to almost 1,000, and we thank all 25 of you intercessors who responded to our need last month. It was SO encouraging! Please pray that we continue to get more prayer warriors, especially men, who are willing to pray for one Christian professional in the entertainment industry. Our "insiders" are asking for intercessors to pray for them and we're still in need of more prayer partners.

• HPN has received more generous donations to help match our MATCHING GRANT, but we still need more. Pray with us that the Lord will touch the hearts of those who are meant to also join our financial team in meeting our goal to raise $18,000 by the end of the year, so that it can become $36,000. We're 1/3 of the way there already!

REQUESTS:

• The new 2008-2009 TV season has begun. Please be wise in watching the new shows and pray for God to reveal both the good and the bad in the programs you choose. Remember not to boycott or get angry but to pray and to discuss the content of shows with your children so that they can become discerning viewers and wise in responding to culture. If you want an HPN Remote Prayer Sticker to put on your TV remote, let us know and we'll send one to you FREE so that you can remember to pray as you change the channel! Just email us at: info@hpnemail.org and ask for a sticker and pray for all the creative, business and marketing people involved at all the TV networks.

• David William Duchovny, two-time Golden Globe Award-winning TV and film actor, best known for his role as Fox Mulder on The X-Files, is married to actress Téa Leoni and they have two children. Last month, David checked himself into a rehabilitation facility for treating sex addiction. Let's thank the Lord that he is getting help, and pray for complete healing. Also, pray for the many others in Hollywood who are struggling with this addiction. The inter-net and growing porn industry are making this a serious problem across the world - even with pastors. Let's pray for the Lord to help us deal with this destructive issue, both with the people involved and the inter-net porn access.

• Scientology is a leading force of evil in Hollywood and also in France. Just recently a French judge ordered two branches of the Church of Scientology and seven of its leaders to stand trial for fraud, a judicial source said. "The case is the latest in a series of legal battles that have pitted the French judicial system against the Scientologists, who are viewed by the authorities as a sect." Let's pray that Hollywood would understand that truth of this "sect" as the French do.

• Will Smith has been in the news recently for hiring three teachers, who are all involved in the church of Scientology, for his and wife Jada's new school that they founded in LA. But good news, Will is heading to ancient Egypt for he has lined up "The Last Pharaoh," a drama at Columbia being written by "Braveheart" writer and committed Christian, Randall Wallace. Let's pray that Will and Randall's friendship will bring Will and his family closer to the Lord, His absolute Truth and His unconditional love.

PRAYER REQUESTS FROM LOCAL CHAPTER DIRECTORS:

• Davita, in our Bollywood Chapter, asks us to pray for Hindu mobs led by fundamentalists, which are roaming in the whole of Kandhamal district & threatening the Christians to reconvert or else face death. This week, 5 families were forcefully reconverted, against their will, to Hinduism in Adaskupa in Kandhamal. And please join us in praying for Davita's CD project which reaches and involves the "untouchable" children in these areas.

• Heidi from the Minneapolis Local Chapter asks us to pray for Michael Ireland, a missionary news correspondent in MN: “Please have the HPN pray for me and the church I belong to during the next couple of months as we go through the budget process. I will be submitting a budget proposal this weekend for my ministry activities for 2009. Please pray that the Missions Leadership Team at the church sees the value of what I do in and through journalism and is willing and able to provide the financial support I need to carry it out. • The Grove Center for the Arts & Media as they offer retreats for artists who want to seek God in a more intimate way.
