Hollywood Prayer Network (HPN) was birthed out of First Presbyterian Church of Hollywood in July 2001 as the third of four entertainment industry ministries launched out of this church. Although many Christians believe that Hollywood is “Sodom and Gomorrah,” HPN Founder and President Karen Covell sees it as a redeemable city, similar to Nineveh.
Covell also believes that God is the only one to change the hearts of the people in the entertainment industry, and He will only do that if His followers here will humble themselves and pray. So, HPN was created to ask Christians to pray for the people in Hollywood.
HPN is a grass roots prayer ministry led by professionals in Hollywood, which seeks to impact our culture through prayer. Our goal is to invite God to free the hearts and minds of media professionals by mobilizing global prayer for the world’s most influential mission field: The Entertainment Industry. As a defined group of almost 5,000 strong, the Christians working in this mission field are growing as a community and experiencing God’s presence here more than ever before.
HPN currently reaches over 10,000 intercessors around the world, many of whom are representing prayer groups, small groups and churches. HPN believes that thousands more are praying for the people in all areas of the media from in front of the camera to behind the scenes. It also facilitates almost 1300 “I to I” Prayer Partnerships (Intercessor to industry Professional) and the IPT; the Incognito Prayer Team, praying for media celebrities and professionals who do not yet know the Lord.
HPN invites churches, Para-church organizations, and individuals across America and the globe, to commit to pray for all aspects of the entertainment industry, including the people and projects in film, television, music and the news media.
HPN reaches its' members through the monthly email and snail mail prayer letters, which include prayer requests, updates, praises, and news breaks, to all the prayer partners. HPN wants to offer a variety of information for the prayer warrior who wants to learn more about Hollywood and what God is doing here.
